THE HALOGEN LED MR16
FROM SLIDE PROJECTOR BEGINNINGS
That’s how the MR16 began life, originally designed for use in slide projectors – now they’re used in place of the standard incandescent lamps. Our MR16 is suited for directional lighting of low to medium density. Ideal for track lighting and recessed ceiling lights; along with desk lamps and bicycle headlights – just a few of the many uses.
MR 16, or in full, Multifaceted Reflector and 16 is the number of eighths of an inch in diameter for the front. In simple terms, the MR16 is 2 inches (51mm) in diameter. Its compact size allows it for those smaller, discreet fixtures than its incandescent predecessor.
MR16 lamps are available with differing beam angles from narrow spots through to flood lamps of 60 degrees.
Dimmers can adjust the brightness of the MR16, but you’d need to know that the color temperature does change when the lights are dimmed.
MR16 lamps emit heat and please are warned to avoid skin contact or closeness to inflammable materials even after the lamp has been recently on.
Although not quite as efficient as fluorescent lamps, they do outweigh the standard light bulb.
Reasonably long-life with a life expectancy of 1000-3000 hours.
